Historic Oak Avenue Restoration
Tuesday, January 06, 2009
Practicality Brown Ltd were proud to have been chosen as
the specialist contractor to carry out tree transplanting of local
provenance Oaks as part of a major restoration Project at Wentworth
Castle near Barnsley.
60 Quercus robur (Common Oak) up to 80cm girth were transplanted
within the grounds of the castle to recreate the original
avenue layout. In addition, a further 50 English
provenance Oaks were sourced and planted space by
Practicality Brown .
Two years on and all oaks have reestablished well and the
project has been a great success, much to the frustration of some
sceptics in the industry!
