Our team was joined by Prem Mann last year who has over 20 years experience in the landcape industry. Prem is now our Marketing Manager dealing mainly with the ever expanding sales of Instant hedge but also strongly involved with other areas of the business including Semi mature Tree Sales where he has already improved our customer service. NEW DELIVERY VEHICLES We took delivery of two new delivery vehicles in the autumn expanding our fleet to 13 vans and lorries.

NEW INSTALLATION MACHINERY Our Hedge installation teams have been equipped with compact equipment to allow efficient installations to be carried out through poor access at wet times of year with minimal garden damage.

TREE SHEARS DISTRIBUTORSHIP Our tree clearance division has been using tree shears fitted to excavators for several years now and was appointed UK distributor for Dymax Tree Shears in September 2006. A new website has been opened giving full details of these machines: www.treeshears.co.uk

ELVEDEN INSTANT HEDGE™  WINS GOLD AGAIN!

We are naturally delighted that our unique instant hedge product has now been used extensively in three Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Show gardens that have been awarded 3 Gold medals in 12 months.

This year at Chelsea we installed 46 metres of our Instant Yew hedge at 1.6m high in the Chris Beardshaw Wormcast Garden which was a quintessentially English Garden on the main rock bank at Chelsea.

Several Chelsea visitors commented that we were so lucky to have been given a site with mature Yew hedge around it! It was of course our award winning instant hedge that had just been planted for the show…

NEW TREE TRANSPLANTER ON COMPACT LOADER

Practicality Brown are pleased to be able to offer for operated hire a new Optimal 1100 tree spade mounted on a compact loading machine for transplanting or rootballing trees up to 30cm girth.

This new machine will provide a reliable and economic tree lifting and moving service for landscapers and nurseries throughout England.

We supplied our instant yew hedge to the designers Page, Prior & Rae as the backdrop to their Gold Medal Winning "Tom's Midnight Garden"

Here's an extract from an email received from Rachel Prior:

" I just wanted to drop you line to say how pleased we were with the instant hedge you supplied to us for our show garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2005.

The yew hedging gave our garden the instant maturity that was so vital to our design and we were delighted when the judges awarded us a Gold Medal and the accolade of 'Best Small Garden', from over 20 contenders.

Ray Cross assisted us with our original enquiry and met us at your Iver site to talk through options and help select mature stock. He also arranged for the hedge to be delivered to us four months before the show so that we could shape it to our requirements. Once building started at the show site he organised for the hedge to be collected and installed. The three guys you sent to do this could not have been better. They were efficient, friendly and very helpful. They installed the hedge on a difficult site to our specification. They then gave the whole hedge a further prune to make sure it was at its best.

Flemings, famous wholesale nursery in australia, recreated an award winning garden from the Melbourne Flower Show World renowned designer, Jack Merlo, chose to use Elveden Instant Hedge in his Chelsea Float Garden as the only truly instant hedge available on the European market.

Our product, Elveden Instant Hedge, is grown to 2m high using unique production methods allowing all year round planting and is available in many species only from the semi mature tree suppliers Practicality Brown Ltd based in Iver near London. Over 27,000 metres is in production and species include beech, purple beech, native mix, hornbeam, laurel, holly and yew. Elveden Instant Hedge, unlike traditional ‘instant hedges’ that use individual rootballed plants planted close together, is grown in continuous strips that are trimmed twice annually to create a truly instant well knitted hedge. Elveden Instant Hedge is grown in a contained rootstrip which allows all year round planting.

New Buildings at Iver

As part of a refurbishment programme at our Iver Stud Nursery involving buildings, fencing and resurfacing, we are nearing completion of a new storage building . This building offers 5m headroom and will allow us to store equipment and load deliveries all under one roof regardless of the weather
